A Legacy of Excellence
Guru Upashana, who has taught at prominent institutions like Assam Jatiya Vidyalay for over 18 years, made this change to ensure a distinct identity for her academy. "This change is solely to avoid confusion with other entities, such as the school founded by Uday Shankar. Our values, our rigorous curriculum affiliated with Pracheen Kala Kendra, and our dedication to the art form remain unchanged," she stated.
Impact & Achievements
The institute has a storied history of producing award-winning dancers who have performed in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Bangkok. Guru Upashana herself is a multifaceted artist—a filmmaker (director of award-winning short film Ami Rod Lomb) and a choreographer for films like Gangs of Raju Mama (2024).
Upcoming Programs
Upashana's Nrityangan is currently accepting admissions for the upcoming session. The institute is also preparing for a series of workshops and the release of Guru Upashana’s choreographed work in the upcoming feature film Rudra (2025).
